Shake, Rattle & Role is the Wild Thyme Players' stage combat salle. With instructors including a
nationally ranked sport fencer and SAFD certified actor combatants, we teach: unarmed, knife, broadsword, rapier and dagger,
small sword, single sword, quarterstaff, and sport epee fencing.
The purpose of the salle is both
to train actors for our shows as well as to offer free training to anyone with a desire to learn the art of stage combat.
We meet every Sunday from 2 - 6 pm, at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church 5401 Tiffany Road at Merchants Drive, Knoxville, TN
37932.
Click here for a map. The first two hours of class are dedicated to basic instruction and are open to the public. We use
this time to train new arrivals, and refresh ourselves on the all important fundamentals. The second half (4-6 pm) is reserved
for salle members and actor combatants to work choreography, run fight rehearsal for shows, and practice more advanced techniques.
While the first part of our Sunday afternoon rehearsals are open to everyone ages 9 and up, becoming a full-fledged
member of the salle requires a higher level of commitment to Shake, Rattle & Role and the recommendation of our
instructors.
Shake, Rattle & Role schedules workshops for interested groups looking to
learn basic stage combat. We also perform exhibition fights for audiences of all ages and types. We are also available
to do fight choreography and direction. If you are interested in training with the salle (or just curious to see how
we get actors to play with pointy sticks without somebody losing an eye) please go to the Contact Us page of this
site, or even better, just drop by between 2 and 4 on Sundays and try it out yourself.
For specific dates and details
of weekly salle instruction, please see the Master Calendar and Salle Schedule by going to the Player's Page of this site.
